Reproductive Science Center of New Jersey (RSCNJ) is a leader in infertility surgery. We're committed to helping our patients understand their options and utilize surgical treatments when both the patient and their doctor agree that this approach will provide the best results.
Several infertility issues respond to different treatments such as lifestyle changes, medication, and surgery. For some women, surgery can remove a structural obstacle that is preventing natural pregnancy and birth, curing infertility. For others, a specific surgical treatment can increase their chances of pregnancy, either naturally or in conjunction with other treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). For example, we often advise surgical correction of certain fallopian tube problems like hydrosalpinx before beginning IVF.
Whenever possible, RSCNJ utilizes minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques such as laparoscopy to correct conditions causing infertility. Laparoscopy and robotic surgery, another MIS we perform with the advanced da Vinci surgical system, are well-suited to the types of surgeries to correct fertility problems. They enable the surgeon to perform complex techniques in very small areas with the aid of video magnification and special instruments.
Laparoscopy is also an excellent diagnostic tool, allowing the surgeon to visually identify or confirm a structural problem. Then, they can correct it during the same procedure. At RSCNJ, we use surgery to treat uterine fibroids, endometriosis, uterine polyps, anatomical issues, fallopian tube dysfunction, and other issues.
Our expert doctors specialize in non-invasive hysteroscopic surgery. This procedure allows us to check the size, shape, and lining of the uterus to diagnose and treat fibroids, intrauterine adhesions, or scarring that can cause infertility or miscarriages in women.
A polypectomy is a procedure in which a fertility surgeon removes polyps from an individual with endometriosis. Endometrial polyps can block the uterus or disrupt the lining, making it difficult to conceive. Removing them increases the chances of a successful pregnancy.
A cystectomy is a procedure to remove ovarian cysts. Ovarian cysts are common and usually go away on their own. For some patients, however, ovarian cysts can be large and painful, making it better to remove them.
