March: RSCNJ Recognizes Endometriosis Awareness Month
Join RSCNJ in supporting women with endometriosis
Endometriosis Awareness takes place around the world during the month of March to bring attention to a disease that affects around 176 million women globally.
Endometriosisis a painful condition where the cells of the uterine lining (endometrium), which shed during a woman’s monthly menses, are found in the abdominal cavity, causing an inflammatory response that often leaves women in pain. The discarded scar tissue can affect the fallopian tubes, thus interfering with ovulation and causing infertility. Endometriosis may also invade the ovary and form ovarian cysts called endometriomas that can decrease egg quality, alter ovulation and increase pelvic pain.
While endometriosis is incurable and can reoccur after treatment, Reproductive Science Center of New Jersey (RSCNJ) doctors can offer care to minimize pain and to help achieve pregnancy. Our physicians will determine the best treatment plan for you according to the stage of endometriosis. This may include medication or surgery, or a combination of both.
